How do you spend your time? How does everybody else? The American Time Use Survey conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics has aimed to answer this question since 2003.
The visualization below lets you explore the most common activity for each hour of the day, broken down by age and sex. Some patterns are predictable (sleep dominates the early hours), but others are more surprising—like how quickly “work” disappears from the chart as you move past 65.
